I enjoy wandering Napa's neighborhoods, admiring the front yards, and noting the changes in landscape gardening styles. There has been quite a metamorphosis over the decades. Many people have moved from lush English-style landscaping to water-wise gardening.

Congratulations to molecular geneticist-physiologist Joanna Chiu, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology! She's the recipient of the highly competitive "Distinction in Student Mentoring' Award from the Pacific Branch, Entomology Society of America (PBESA).

UC Cooperative Extension is offering workshops in Ventura, Salinas and Tulare to help growers adapt their fruit, nut and vegetable production practices to variable climate conditions.

Part one of Planting Peppers from Seed covered planting your pepper seeds and caring for them. After several weeks the seedlings should be outgrowing the trays they were started in.

UCCE and collaborator workshops on climate related issues to crop production are coming to Tulare, Ventura and Salinas from March 5-7. CCA credits applied for attendees. See attached programs for more information including locations, agendas and registration.
