Melissa has been with UC CalFresh since 2013. She discovered her passion for nutrition education as a volunteer for UC CalFresh. After graduating from Cal Poly with a Bachelors in Nutrition, Melissa quickly started as a Community Education Specialist.
A gall is a malformation of plant tissue caused by small insects often called gall makers. Galls form into different shapes and sizes and grow on different parts of the tree including leaves and stems. Galls do not typically cause physical damage to healthy trees that have been properly maintained.
Miguel is originally from Santa Maria, CA. His interest and passion related to physical education and nutrition were what motivated him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from CSU Fresno. After graduating, he decided to return to Santa Maria to help and serve his community.
Shannon Klisch Shannon has been the UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program Supervisor since November 2014. She has worked in SNAP-Ed Nutrition Education programs since 2012.

What is the UC GNE Program? The University of California Garden Nutrition Extenders (UC GNE) program is a partnership between 4-H and the UC CalFresh Healthy Living, UC program in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
My name is Kelly Hong and I lived in Salinas, California up until I moved to San Luis Obispo (SLO) to attend university at Cal Poly. I graduated with my degree in Nutrition in spring of 2017 and I now call SLO my home. In my free time I enjoy trying new recipes.
