Most of us know the story about Rip Van Winkle. For those who may not, it is the story about a man who fell asleep and slept for 20 years. Well, I have a story about two surprises I found in my garden.

Introducing your new information source for CDFA grants, Kern County and Ventura County Shulamit Shroder and Alli Rowe are two of the newest members to UC Cooperative Extension. Shulamit is based out of Kern County and serves Kern, Tulare, and King Counties.

What a show! Last weekend we spotted female European wool carder bees (so named because they collect or card plant hairs for their nests) buzzing in and out of our snapdragons. The bees, about the size of honey bees, are mostly black and yellow.
