Camper Bridgette Award: awarded to the person who emits the spirit of camp through enthusiasm, kindness, generosity, and a willingness to try new things. Past Camper Bridgette Award Recipients.
The Camper Bridgette award is in memory of a camper who passed away at a young age. Bridgette attended San Mateo County 4-H Camp every year that she could no matter what, including missing a day for another obligation and missing out on events outside of the Camp world. Bridgette was the camper who always had a smile on her face and was kind to all who she came into contact with. She went out of her way to make others feel better, and she always helped out if she was asked to and offered when she wasn't. She was told at the age of 12 she would be a great Manager and, one day, Director. Her enthusiasm for camp and the traditions only grew stronger through the week. She made it to every activity and was awarded with "best aim," "best dancer," and "beach bum" during her years as a camper. The award is given to the person who is "the spirit of 4-H Camp;" one of the people you see at an early age who will be a Manager and one day a Director simply because of their enthusiasm and love for Camp. The person chosen demonstrates a kindness and compassion to others in all situations and is always willing to offer a helping hand. Their love for 4-H Camp is contagious and is seen in all aspects of Camp through the week. The recipient need not be a camper, despite the name, and shall be decided as a group with the other awards.
