Who We Are

Welcome! We are the UC Master Food Preservers of Solano and Yolo Counties, trained volunteers who teach safe, research-based home food preservation methods in our local communities. Through public classes and workshops, hands-on demonstrations, participation in county fairs, content contributions to websites and blogs, and print and digital media, our volunteers carry out the mission of the UC Master Food Preserver Program. Our mission is to keep Californians safe and well as they use culturally appropriate, research-based practices to safely preserve food in the home, reducing food waste, increasing food security, and providing engaging ways for Californians to explore healthy food.

What We Do

We share government and cooperative extension research-based information with Solano and Yolo County communities, including the following topcs:

  • Food safety

  • Canning jams and jellies
