Email Accessibility

Email needs to adhere to Accessibility Standards. This is important for Email Lists, Blog Announcements, attached PDFs etc.

UCANR has many email lists that land in our mailboxes.

  1. If you use Constant Contact or other external applications for creating html emails, be sure to follow the same html rules that our websites use.
    1. Do Not make an image based file of a PDF and attach it as the main content. No one using a screen reader can find any content in an image.
    2. Please be sure to not use tables as a layout tool.
    3. Make sure any images in the email also have alt attributes.
    4. Make your layout simple and avoid multi-columns, or complex layouts.
