2021 Life Skills Festival and Field Day

This event is an opportunity for 4-H members to submit items they have made for competition at the county level. 4-H members participate in sewing, food, and craft projects throughout the year, creating a wonderful array of hand made goods that we will showcase digitally after the events.

Due to the pandemic, we are modifying our events. We will not have any spectators at the events this year due to limited capacity requirements. We will be following the in-person guidelines found here.

Fashion Revue - none this year.  

Favorite Foods Day

Members must prepare a dish, place setting, and menu display. Each contestant should be knowledgeable about the preparation of their dish and the nutritional value of the entire menu. There will be no food tasting this year. Competitors must be enrolled in a 4-H food project to participate.

• Salad
• Soup
• Vegetable
• Side Dish
• Main Dish
• Dessert
• Preserved Food item

Favorite Recipe Video Contest! Open to all registered 4-H youths & adults – you do not have to be in a food project!  Submit a 30 second video of you showing and talking about a favorite recipe. You can include a photo of the dish or the actual dish itself and what you love most about the recipe. You must register and submit your video here: https://ucanr.edu/survey/survey.cfm?surveynumber=33798 . The winners will be featured on our San Mateo SF YouTube Channel, Facebook and Instagram

Arts and Crafts Expo

Open to all 4-H members, regardless of 4-H project enrollment. Members will have an opportunity to participate in a handcraft competition. This will be a drop off event.

Arts & Crafts Categories:

• Needlework (e.g., knitted accessories, embroidered items, sewn accessories, quilts)
• Hobby Crafts (e.g., jewelry making, beading, leathercrafts, paper crafts, woodworking, duct tape creations, ceramics)
• Project Display Boards (e.g., 4-H Million Trees, Bee Keeping, Drama, Notecards, Vet Science, Astronomy, Beginning 4-H, any 4-H project qualifies)
• Photography (must be mounted, matted, or framed)
• Visual Arts (must be mounted or framed - examples: paintings, drawings, etchings)
