This garden was designed to demonstrate that water thrifty gardens can be attractive. The plants in the water wise garden meet at least two of the following three criteria: 1. Require little or no water. 2. Are fire resistant. 3. Are deer resistant. Many of the plants are common, e.g. Agapanthus; others are not, e.g. lavender Fred Boutin. We also included one of our native penstemons. We used a Desert Willow to anchor the space; planting it on the mound provides great drainage. It is surrounded by a pathway of commercial "DG", (decomposed granite); underneath the "DG" is a road base for drainage.
Gravel is the mulch for the planting beds.
